I took my kayak out again from waverly park for the evening perch bite. The trip started off pretty bad(mostly my fault):
- The park was packed so I had to park in the street and walk all the way back to the beach.
- I forgot to charge my sonar battery so I was fishing "blind"
- I had used the last of my emerald shiner gulp minnows last week and was left with only cchartreuse(which don't work)

After an hour of almost no action, I finally hooked a small perch that I could fillet for bait. After that I drifted around trying to find some bigger fish(without sonar). Once I caught one I threw in my marker buoy and just drifted that area catching one after another. I caught 25 keepers between 8"-12.5" over the next hour. I fought a nice smallmouth bass for a while before losing it next to the boat. Then the wind changed a little and the bite slowed down so I headed home.

The perch were spitting out giant stickleback minnows and their stomachs were with them.

Great day for fishing! Voraciousness put that perch into trouble. I caught a big belly 12" smallie at Seward park cove. I thought it was pregnant. 10 minutes later it puked out a whole minnow.

Nice catch! I used to fish in Washington a lot. Caught hundreds up to 14 inches. They are a great eating fish and an angler doesn't need to feel guilty about keeping them. Eat perch and release most of your bass.
