I was bored this morning, and my original plans for the day fell through, so around 11:00, I loaded up the 4Runner and headed to Dog Lake. Usually this time of year the bite is hit or miss, usually swaying toward the "miss;" however today was completely opposite. I had very limited time for fishing, and ended up limiting out in an hour and a half (including a few I missed). Two were only lip hooked and were released with absolutely no trauma. I kept three for eating, which had swallowed it. The catch of the day was a hog -- 18 inches, weighing in right at two pounds.

Pink power eggs, 18 inches of leader, and lots of weight were the key. I was fishing along the highway side of the lake, which tends to be quite shallow for a long way out. Lots of weight is needed to get out to the deeper areas. I used four slip sinkers to get into the deeper areas. After that, the limit was easy!

Tight lines!
