LAKE DONALD: After Loch Eileen I hiked and scrambled 3/4 of a mile uphill to an absolutely gorgeous destination called Lake Donald. The small, deep lake was full of agressive cutthroat trout averaging 8 to 11 inches. In less than an hour I hooked 13 cutts ( 9 of which were caught and released from the single barbless hooked lures I was casting). Surrounded by green pine and golden larch trees, this was a wonderful place to visit. The round trip mileage from the High Camp to Lake Donald (including fishing at Lake Julius and Loch Eileen) was about 7 1/2 miles.
