Got out of work early on Friday and hit Hayden Lake again. Fished from about 11:00 to 6:00, caught probably 30 or so, and kept 15 which is the limit. The keepers were pretty much in the 13-16" range.

Per my report of 7/23, I picked up pretty much right where I left off. English Point, a red wedding ring on one downrigger and a pink hoochie on the other. Each tipped with white shoepeg corn and dipped in Krill Anise Super Dipping Sauce. On one line I used a silver sling blade dodger and the other had a rectangular style Luhr Jensen. A string of ford fender style flashers in front of the dodger, and an elastic snubber in front of that. Ran the riggers in the 30-40 foot range.

I was banging fish almost immediately. And typical of bluebacks, losing entirely too many of them. But I found the fish in pretty much the exact same area as before. Right near the tip of English Point, there's a tall house, with very distinctive diagonal bracing under it's deck. Right in front of that house, I got bit every single time I trolled by. One time I doubled there, and boated them both. My route was basically from there northward a quarter mile or so, 200-300 yards from the shore, back and forth. I had very, very little time to just sit and watch the poles, it was extremely busy. Corn stealing bites, dancing poles, hook-ups and misses, and the occasional fish in the boat. It kept me busy.

The only issue with fishing this lake, and this area of the lake in particular, is there's a lot of recreational traffic. Jet skis, boats pulling tubers and skiers, pontoon party boats, they're all zipping around you all the time. Makes for a lot of rocking and rolling. But the fishing is so good, it's worth it.

The party is almost over, in fact I could detect a little bit of color in some of these fish. They'll be turning red shortly. But for the moment at least, this lake is on fire. You can just about roast marshmallows off the side of the boat this lake is so hot. I'm going to try to get out one more time this week.

Thanks for the report manukabay. I see your boat smokin' !! I think most would rather not "contend" with the recreational traffic but the fishing is so hot why not? Bet they are not out running around at 4:30 AM.

Just out of curiousity, have you tried night fishing on Hayden? Loon lake is a busy recreational water sports lake by day, but come sundown, it's awesome koke fishing without all the traffic and mid-day heat.
