I have the next week off from work, and my wife is out of town, what to do..... FISH!
Weather was kind of crap this morning, actually had to put the rain gear on, got a little chilly. The bonus was the crap weather made it so that I only saw a few wake boarders/water skiers on the lake this morning. Fall is coming, fish should start to get more active in a month or so as the water cools back down. Bottom fished again today, started in the same spot by the hedges SW area, and moved around a little bit as the bite died there. 4 foot leader, 3/4 ounce slip sinker, and chartreuse power eggs with a dab of pro cure trout gel.
Landed 4 this morning, had another 5-6 bites without a hook up. The fish are really lazy feeding right now. I am finding full stomachs still, but they are full with what looks like tiny fresh water clams. At first I thought they might be snails, but a closer look makes me think they are tiny clams. I figure this is why I can't hook up trolling right now, they don't need to chase their food at the moment.
Fish ranged from 14 to 15 1/2 inches. Still very healthy fish, and they are still cutting a dark orange to red.
Wanted to have a little fun as well as stock up for the smoker, so I brought the little 4 1/2 foot Zebco today.
