It has been a while since I saw a report for Cassidy Lake, and figure it is time to put in a good word (or few) for my favorite lake.

Yesterday, one of my sons and I were able to put the canoe in for the first time this summer. We targeted sunfish (bluegills, panfish of any sort, but especially bluegills), and were not disappointed. Another part of our fun was the decision to use cane poles. I have been using a fourteen foot "Crappie Stalker" this summer, and have brought home several decent catches from this lake, but yesterday was the first time we both used cane exclusively. We kept 16 nice fish, and each put back at least a couple smaller ones, so it was a good catching afternoon.

My favorite lake for 50 years. Tell us more. How big? Bluegills or Pumpkinseed? Were you in the pads? Thanks

This batch was almost all pumpkinseed. The ones we kept were 6 - 7 inches, but seemed rather good-sized. We used nightcrawlers, and worked in the pads along the west side. We caught a few just south of the boat lunch, but most of our action was to the north, just a short way, and mostly between the dock and the launch area.

We had many more bites than catches; but plenty of fun. my son was on call for his job, so we didn't venture very far from the landing. In the past, we have caught plenty in the northwest corner. For some reason, I have caught only one perch there this year, and that was a small one.
