Cutthroat Trout

Launched my 13' inflatable at Magnuson park around 2:30 and motored over to Moss Bay. It was a bit windy but the fishing was great. We caught 5 cutts and took 2 home for dinner. We hooked one that broke off the mainline and then we saw the fish jumping on the surface about 50' behind the boat. Thought it was a coho and it kept surfacing so we went over to see if we could get our gear back. Turns out it was a 3lb 2oz cutthroat that we were able to net along with our hoochie and slingblade! We were trolling pretty close to the bottom in 55-60 FOW, our best rig was a UV red slingblade and an orange/yellow mini hootchie with a pink smileblade. Also used herring scent in the skirts, shout out to DJBultler for sharing his successes on this site!

We went out again today (9/13) and did catch a small coho that was safely released. There are a few of them in but I think its still a bit early.

Over 11,000 have already crossed the Locks so it's definitely not too early.

Ripple, how far behind the ball were you pulling your gear? Thanks.

We were about 20' behind the ball. I guess there are a lot of fish in then, should be a good year. That was the 2nd coho I've caught out of the lake so maybe this year I'll be able to land a few more.

My boys and I caught and released a 6-7 lb hatchery Coho last Sunday morning out in front of Carillon Point. Was trolling in about 70 ft of water w/ riggers at about 50 ft. Beautiful fish.
