Long time troller of the site, first time poster. We've been taking the Livingston out on Lake Sammamish a few times over the last couple months. The action was better a couple of months ago, but still has been strong enough to keep me coming back. It's only a short drive so makes it easy for the times there's a couple hours to get out.

Anyways, last Saturday by daughter and I got on the water by 11. The weather was perfect for late fall, sunny and warm. Trolling with the downriggers at 39' and 45'. I read that lots of people drag the gear way back (100') from the DR ball, but I've found that 30' makes no difference on the number of hook ups. Wedding rings in chartreuse with little smile blades, tipped with worm, behind a little flasher, see the pics. Hooked up 5 in 3 hours on the central south end of the lake - straight south of the weather station, 60' deep, only a hundred yards out from the houses.

Easy fishing along the lake shore, in the sunshine, talking with the kiddo. Couldn't ask for anything better.

I would agree with the shorter setbacks... especially when over 30 feet deep. (away from boat) I generally run a gang troll of some sort off of my ball, so I usually see a big benefit to shorter setback. Sometimes even less than 10 feet.

Hey ChiroCracker, When you tip with worm, are you putting a piece of worm on there or using scent?
Also, was it tough to keep kokanee off the line, or have the cutthroat become more dominant in Sammamish?
I grew up there and it was ok to keep kokanee then. I know you can't anymore.

FishingTenor, Overall there have been very few kokanee hooked up. Ones that are get released quickly back to the water. I use real worms. If it's a small worm, I'll put the whole thing on. If it's a big worm, I'll put half or less of it on. We have tried a few different scents but the worms work best.
If I had the chance this weekend I'd be out on Lk Washington going for coho. That'll have to wait till another day.
