Well we fished Deep Lake for the last time this year before it closes later this month. We got on the water at 07:30 and had the lake all to ourselves. The winds were blowing pretty good but thanks to my Minn Kota Terrova, boat control was a breeze.

The fish were down in the 40-60’ range and we caught most of them in 45-50 FOW trolling at 1.1-1.6 mph. We used watermelon kokabow dodgers and green and red wedding rings with garlic scented corn. Fishing was a little slow but we got our limits in about 3 hours. Some of the fish had their jaws starting to “hook over” so I think they are getting ready to spawn. Most of the fish were in the 12” range. It was a great year for us on Deep Lake. We just learned this fishery in early August and managed to take home a total of 85 fish for the year, not bad for a beginner. Looking forward to next year. I'm going to smoke some more fish for the winter.
