With no more salt this year, the boat needed one more bath before winter, so me and a buddy gave it a go Sunday.
Launched at Sand Point and worked the points, moss bay and finished up on the Webster->Sand Point troll for grins. Marked some scattered fish, but the only biters were pikeminnow (2, dispatched) and one mid-sized cutthroat released... Ran everything from salt gear to plugs to herring without success... Lots of boats out early, but it did thin out -- saw one guy net a fish early (looked like flasher and hoochie?), and another right before the hawks game (couldn't see what he used)...
Back at the ramp, the fish checker reported 6 fish all day. Six. For something like 30 boats.
FWIW -- last year, on the same day, Sept 18, 2015, there were 71 coho landed at Shilshole marina. This year -- with a much healthier return by all measures -- we get the lockjaw lake, and 6 fish at Sand Point. BRING BACK OUR SALT!!!
