Bank fished the WDFW Boat Launch from 0830 to 0930 for perch and panfish (wouldn't have minded getting some trout/kokanee but water is still too warm for that). Did some fly and bubble around underwater structure and the LPD pier, using a Joe's Hopper and then a Wooly Bugger (black), got a good strike on the Wooly but no hookset. Switched to a pink spinner that's been a consistent producer for me in this location and went 3/3 on panfish. Decided to switch out for my beloved #2 Pink Buzz Bomb for distance and went 2/2 on decent sized perch and 2/2 on some more small panfish. CNR'd everything because I'd forgotten my cooler on my porch and they were all clean hooksets (and honestly not really worth wrapping any of them up in plastic and making a fast run to the gas station for ice and a styrofoam cooler). Gotta say, have been killing a fair amount of time at the WDFW Boat Launch lately and it's fast becoming my favorite little haunt for just catching small fish on my ultralight gear, the kind of place that's perfect for taking the little ones with ultra light gear to get them into fish (since kids don't care about size so much as the fun of catching something). The Lakewood PD/FD pier/garage is swarming with little panfish and small perch and rock bass - when there isn't any wind this is the perfect spot for some fly fishing practice. Bombing a Buzz Bomb out will get you into decent sized perch (~8-10") consistently too.
