Fished from around 9 to 1, mostly just north of Beard Island in 40 FOW. Used drop shot type rig with jig for weight and hooks above. All with perch meat (I had one from the last trip to lake WA). It was not red hot but ended with 14 caught and 13 kept. The smallest was just under 9 and the largest just over 10. This was the only place I saw what looked like a school of fish. Used 1/2 to 1 oz jigs and around half the fish hit the jig. Some of the hooks above were red some were crappie jigs. I am trying to figure out what works best. but there was no clear answer. What got no hits (at least no fish on)were hooks with colored beads.

Thanks for the report, it came just in time as I'm planning to go perch fishing there very soon. I'm no expert but I wonder if this lake has them in bigger sizes? Did you try fishing deeper water?

I only got out as deep as 50'. I did cruse around a little in the south end but did not see any other schools on the FF.

I read somewhere that when perch get jumbo they tend to leave the school and become solitary, while the younger smaller fish school by size.So if you get into a certain size school that are smaller fish you might as well find another school.I have found that to be true ,at least on the smaller lakes(20-100 acres)drop shot a nightcrawler about 10 inches off bottom,is my most effective method

jigs are a little less effective ,but tend to catch bigger perch

hlindsay were you in a blackish black boat parked just west of the launch and north of Beard island? I left about 12:30. White and blue boat with a blue top.
