We were initially fishing for bass and caught mostly little ones, but in 2 back to back casts I got a 46"/20lb Tiger and a 43"/15lb Tiger. A fluke if ever I saw one! Sorry so late posting, but I've been too busy. Scott

What do you suspect is wrong with those fish's tails? Fungal infection? Other musky attacks? Or birth defect?

I've caught about 6 of them that have been over 15lbs and almost all of them had tails like that. I've noticed the smaller ones have normal looking tails. Even though they're sterile, I don't know if they still "try" to spawn or not. If they do, I could see why they have tails like. They never have blood on their tails though.

What were you using for lure? Where were you fishing at?

Rainbow trout swimbait. Approx. 12' of water. Half way across the lake straight out from the public access. I wasn't even trying for Tigers. In fact, every Tiger I've ever caught, I was bass fishing. It's quite a surprise at first when you think you might have the bass of a lifetime on! I've landed about 20 Tigers over the years with about half of them over 10lbs!
