My first post on this site. I have read many reports and would now like to contribute to this hugely informative site! Launched the boat at about 6:45 a.m. Trolled just north east of the weather buoy and didn't hook up for two hours. Then all of a sudden HOOK UP!! First take down was on a purple pearl wiggle hoochie. Landed the first cutthroat of the day. I never leave fish to find fish so we stay in that general area the rest of the day. I tried different color wiggle hoochie throughout the day, but the only color that seemed to work was the purple pearl belly wiggle hoochie. Unfortunately for me I only have one purple hoochie on the boat, go figure..tried an assortment of needlefish lures copcar, watermelon, perch, and chartreuse. Tried hoochie with smiley blades no luck. Only the purple pearl belly hoochie. After trying all my lures in my arsenal we finally ended up sharing one rod. The rain and wind in the morning made it difficult to keep the boat at 1.5 miles per hour. By noon the winds subsided and fishing picked up slightly. We ended our day at 3:30p.m. with hooking up eight and landing five. I would like to thank my buddy Willie for sharing his hot setup with me. Next time I will add a more diverse arsenal to my gear to have a better shot at this fishery.
