Got my lines in the water about 8am. First 30 minutes landed 2 11-12 inch rainbows. Released both and continued on my way. Both caught at 20 feet on the downrigger. Got a couple more on in the next few hours that didn't make it to the net. Also had a few drive-by's. Dropped the downrigger to 5 feet from bottom and got rewarded with a nice chunky 17 inch rainbow. Awesome day to be out on the water.
Fishing is by no means hot yet, but it is starting to turn on. Another few weeks it should be go time. Ran my standard gear for Lake Goodwin. Macks 00 dodgers, 18 inch leader to a size 6 or 8 green Doc Spratley fly. Downrigger line got bites between 20-25 feet. The other line I tried 1/8th ounce lead down to 1 1/2 ounce. Marked lots of fish shallow, but none that would bite. Surface temp was 43 when I started, 45 when I finished.
