Scott Haugen (Four Seasons Resort) and I fished Saturday evening for about 1 1/2 hours just before and a little after dark. We caught 4 walleyes in 2-3 feet of water using both crank baits and tube jigs. The fish appeared to be in the pre-spawn mode. We were forced to quit fishing after dark as the wind was increasing. We fished again Sunday morning for about 1 1/2 hours until the wind literally blew us off the lake. It was the roughest I have ever seen that lake!! We caught one legal walleye (male) on a shallow flat which seems to indicate the fish are either spawning or real close to spawning. Water surface temperature was 53 on Saturday and 49-50 on Sunday. If you plan to fish this lake in the next couple of weeks a good lure choice is a shad (or other light color) crank bait such as a Rapala Shad Rap or Suspending/Suspending jointed Shad Rap in size 4 or 5. Keep in mind most of the bait fish in the lake this time of the year are small and light in color. Also, tu!
be baits in silver/silver metal flake are a good choice. And keep an eye on the weather-the lake can get extremely rough in no time flat!!!
