We had been hearing so much about the net pens at Rufus we decided to give it a try, all of our other Rufus fishing has been the lower part of the lake down by Bridgeport. We had never launched at Seaton Grove mainly because there is no dock and between my disability and being old and fat I have a hard time crawling over the bow. Everything went well and off we went. I was surprised what a short run it is from Seaton to the first net pen. The water was very high and fast with a lot of floating debris. When we got to the net pen my wife got her gear ready and when I got the boat into position she dropped a Slow Death rig to the bottom, it no sooner hit bottom and it was fish on. With the first fish in the boat I repositioned the boat while she baited up again, this time we trolled about 50 ft. and fish on again. Now it's her turn to run the boat while I fish, I just used her pole with her set up and had about the same results. We had our four fish trout limit in about 40 minutes, they were all about 1 1/2 pounds each. With that part of the day finished we went exploring for a place to catch some walleye. While looking for backwater and eddies we checked out a couple creeks coming into the lake, the water in these creeks looked like pure mud. We tried a few places with no success so we headed back toward the launch, on the way I spotted what looked like a possible walleye hole so we swung in to give it a try and low and behold the wife's rig hardly hit bottom and she hung into a nice 21 inch male walleye. We continued fishing this little spot for about two hours and managed to pick up two more walleye about 18 inches. All in all not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

Thanks for the report. Never fished that lake, but looking forward to it in the future.

Great report....how much weight did it take to get to the bottom with the fast current?
