Arrived at Olson's Resort and were in the water fishing about 1000. We only caught non fin clipped
Coho the first day. We caught and released several nice lingcod near Slip Point along with numerous Greengling.
Back at the resort it was brought to our attention that just by going West past the Sekiu River
we could keep 10 Rockfish and 2 Lingcod over 24"
On 11 Sep 02, we were on the water about 0630, it was very foggy. We caught numerous non fin clip
Cohoes and several large Chinooks before getting our 4 Coho keepers they weighed between
8 and 15 Lb. During this outing I had let out my flasher and lure about 50' behind the boat
and was reaching for the downrigger clip when a fish grabbed it and rod and all into the water.
We chased the rod for about 10 minutes before catching the fish fish in the net( about a 20Lb King.. Thank goodness
the free spool lever had clicked off, because we had to pull the rod up by the line.
We then proceed to the mouth of the Sekiu River where we put out crab pots. This effort proved futile, no crabs.
We did catch Lingcod keepers and several rock fish and kelp greenling.
The next morning we had our keepers before 0800 and that's after releasing several wild fish .
That afternoon became very windy so we packed it in after a short while fishing West of the Sekiu.
