South of Shipwreck
My dad and I decided to go out for some humpy action in our favorite salmon spot just south of shipwreck. We fished away from the enormous fleet of boats for the most part, but occasionally a boat or 2 would pass by. We launched the boat at around 6:20am and were fishing by 7:00am after dropping the crab traps and gearing up. We were in 400+ feet of water all morning and had the downriggers set to 30 ft. Within 5 minutes of putting my offering down I hooked into a decent silver, 5 lb or so. After that the humpy action was hot, we caught and released 11 humpies and took home 1 large humpy for the smoker. Both of us were using Green/hammered nickel hotshot flashers and green "Crocodile" hootchys with a piece of herring on them and a squirt of herring oil scent. We stopped fishing at 11am and pulled up the crab pot. No Dungeness keepers, but 15+ some red rock crabs to chose from. We took home our limit of red rock and called it a day.
