Recently there are lots of salmon caught near shore along Point Defiance area early in morning or near dusk. Some people fish from shore have good luck casting buzz bombs. Pink and white combination or totally pink buzz bombs work well. Some people wade into the water and fly fish using pink clouser minnow fly up to 3 inches long. I have seen multiple coho salmon about 3 to 5 lbs being caught consistantly. Another person asked about rock cod fishing. The trick is to find where they are. Rock cod are found near rocky areas, ex. jetty along the shore, boat mooring area. Any where there are rocks piling up and the water beside it is deep enough, about 20 feet or so. Theses places will hold rock cods. Rock cod are active when the weather is warm, usually from May to September. When the weather is too cold, they do not bite well. The best and cheapest lure to use are curly tail plastic worms up to three or four inches long. Just like bass fising the best lure colors are: red, purple, black, blue. Rock cods usually bite well near sun set or after dark. If there are rock cods around, you can usually get a bite within the first or second cast. Hope this helps. Good luck to all.
