Took out my inflatable raft off one of the northern points in area 11 where I have had success catching silvers. Using a 7' fiberglass fenwick and a small open face shimano with 8lb test line, I headed out about 100 yards off shore and started jigging my pink / white buzz bomb at tide change. After about five minutes I hooked what felt like a descent size silver. I started working it toward my raft when it took off. After its second long run I started working it close to the boat again this time the line was totally vertical and this fish took off straight down snapping my rod in half. Now working with half a rod I am wondering if I will ever land this fish. After another long run I slowly reeled in a seventeen pound KING. Total time to land about 30 minutes, wow I couldn't believe I landed it. It barely fit in the rubber raft with me.
