Started out at 5:30 a.m. Started with a gang troll and an apex kokanee killer. Went down 3 colors out from the boat launch in 60 feet of water. Tipped my rig with white shoepeg corn. Trolled out past the main island and toward the airplane hanger. I caught lots of rainbow in the 12"- 14" range. I fish this lake mainly for the kokanee, and when I got in front of the airplane hanger, I tied on a modified red wedding ring spinner. I finally found a school of kokes and started to nail them. These are nice kokes in this lake, 16"- 18" with big shoulders on them. Even with the best of care fighting these guys I usually only end up landing 30-40%. I read about a 2 hook rig with 2 #2 gamakatsu red hooks, and tried that rig on Sunday on lake Stevens. My brother and I had 100% success. That is unheard of (and probably unrepeated!) Looking forward to trying that 2 hook rig on American. All the kokes I caught had roe in them, so I don't when they actually go into spawn. Anyone know?
