Thought I would check out the south Sound to see if there were any kings to be had yet. I know it's a little early for migrating kings but thought I might be able to tie in to a resident fish or two.

Hit the water around 11am and headed over to Solo Pt. I did a couple of laps there and didn't see much on the fish finder so I decided to head over to Johnson Pt. to fish through the tide change at 2pm. Johnson Pt. looked a lot more promising on the fish finder. I was marking bait every where. Unfortunately, after a couple of hours the thunderstorms started to brew and the water started to white cap. It was time to head back to the ramp! I will definitely give Johnson Pt. another look the next time I am out.

I caught two Hatchery Jack Kings Monday June 18th at tide change. I had 40 ft. on the downrigger in 70 ft. of water at Gibson point. The larger fish was 25" and 7 lbs. It was almost as fat as it was long, the smaller was 23" and 5 lbs. The early jacks are there, and fish shallow for them.

Caught the salmon between pulling the rock crab pots. If you boil the rocks for 20 minutes the shells don't shatter into such tiny pieces.
