Had a chance to visit my best fishing partner in his new location in Valdez Alaska. What a beautiful place. Glacial colored salt water surrounded by glacier covered mountains and many waterfalls that flow to the shores. Saw a few bears and did I say beautiful scenery. Well to add to all this is perhaps the best coho fishing I have had. Fishing LaPush in the 60's and 70's was close. The limit here is 6 fish. We trolled with with one downrigger down 30 feet and out 60 feet with a flasher and green squid. Next pole used a diver with flasher and blue squid with piece of herring for flavor out 30 pulls. Third pole was 3oz. lead with cut plug herring out 40-50 pulls. On a private boat that had only one working downrigger. All rigs worked with the downrigger catcing a couple more fish. After a 30min. run and 2 hours trolling, three of us had 18 coho running 10 to 16lbs. Many double hookups and a few lost at the net. All the fish were bright and, like coho do, try to dance your pole out of the holder. No guessing whats on the end of your line. Took a day off and returned to fishing. Our second day was 18 coho and one feeder 12lb. white king. Great time spent with friends and great fishing too. We fished this past Thursday and Sat. My old partner has found an outdoor gem to live in. I hope to go back. Good luck to all DH
