went out hardcore sat. and Sunday. got one real nice ling to the boat on sat. (30-35) but messed up netting myself and now it swims again in 7 north... plenty of C&R rockfish and small ling (20-24), but couldn't mange a keeper. what a season it was, next year i better be bringing someone out for there first time.

NOTE: Sunday i was in the boat for 14 hours straight....and no keepers. BUT....to make everything worthwhile, a POD of ORCA's past me on their way from strait of georgia to Rosario strait, UNBELIEVABLE!! One did circles with it's pectoral fin not 75 yards from my boat. just like the movies!! then.....a medium sized male (I'm guessing) surfaced not 30 yrds from my boat!!! (i had already killed the engine) Very spiritual and eye opening at the same time.....not often you see a 16ft fish break water next to your 16 ft boat.....I'm just happy to be alive and appreciate every moment. very few experiences make you reflect on your life, but this did.........come on salmon season!!!

very cool...I've spent many years on the coast but have never been that close to orcas.Sweet!!!

Those orca's are cool. I don't see a bunch down further south in the sound, but I see a TON of porpoises in Area 9. Not quite as cool as Orca's, but they are real cool when you are driving and they start popping up all around you....

man thast awsome I went out saturday and we had the orcas soround our boat it was pretty awsome. my dad got a pic of one jumping clear out of the water

thats great big fish lite line......where did you see them??? man i would love to see that photo!! i tried taking pictures i didn't have it ready in time. (did you get any fish BTW)

I saw them over north by pea pod rocks it was incredible. we caught and released a crap load of rock fish, greenling, and small lings. my dad got two; 26 and 34in. my friend cought a greenling that a ling lached on to it on the way up and I ended up netting both the 14in greenling and the 26in ling. the ling did not even have a hook in him. we had an awsome day the best part was that my dad landed the 34in ling in 30ft of water on 12lb test and a 1ounce jig.
