Was a great Saturday afternoon and figured it would be fun to go cruise in the boat and try for a rockfish while I'm at it. It was dead calm out there. I shouldn't have had fishing poles, I really needed the water skis! Dead calm out there, great sunny conditions for some afternoon cruising and fishing. Went back to my spot looking for a rockfish out on Double Bluff...

Spent the first hour (5p-6pm) going cold. Nothing. But I moved back to my "spot" after having the tide push me off it and had two on for about 5 seconds each. Lost em...Darnit, oh well...Not 15 minutes later, bam another fish on. This one doesn't feel nearly as big, but the hooks held. Got it boatside to see Mr. Lingcod staring back at me. Popped the hook off and off it went. Was probably a 22" fish, but had to be released anyways (seasons closed) Gave up and just enjoyed the afternoon sun on the beach and bbq'd some brat's by the water instead.

Was using 3 oz Crippled Herring, 80-110 feet of water. Was practically back trolling to keep my lines under the boat. Tides were pushing me hard...

Porpoises were out in full force, I saw a lot of bait jumping in various spots (looks good for the king fishery this summer)

Oh, saw about 8 or 9 Indian crab pots out there at my crabbing spot....Still don't know why they get first crack,
