Balls in the water again before 4:30 am. Started fishing just before Saltwater state park, got to the Dash Point Dock and there was bait everywhere. I mean the water was litteraly boiling in multiple spots. I told the Old Hooker this is it man, just keep us on top of the bait as much as you can. We were marking huge bait balls with fish all over them one after another on the sonar. This is it man, its just a matter of time I said. We continued to stay right on top of the bait, along side of the bait, even had the darn bait boiling all around us nearly banging the side of the boat. We worked the area. I MEAN WORKED THE AREA! I would say two hours or more right on top of bait balls. Not even a take down once. Now I am going to say this right now We were in the right place at the right time, no question. Just no luck. Makes me want to scream!!!!!!!
For the the next three hours we worked back and forth between Dash and the tip of Browns. Realy did not mark any real consintrations of bait or fish for the next three hours.
The Old Hooker says lets go get some fresh live herring at Point Defiance and see if that may change our luck. When in dought let line out and if that don't work blame the bait. Works for me.
Picked up 18 live herring and proceded to enter the battle fishing known as the Point Defiance/Claybanks. Up and down we went from the Point to the Rockpile. Not a take down, not a dog, and not a fish net out by a single boat that we saw. Back to Browns Point again and then we decided to perform the "DEAD MAN WALKING" (troll all the way back to the boat ramp)
I am saying I pulled the last ball up next to those white things infront of the Redondo boat ramp.
During the "DEAD MAN WALKING" we managed to bring in two 6" Blackmouths. Also saw three nice size Silvers jump almost net distance from the boat.
Ok, second Sunday in a row with not a fish to take home for my new smoker!!!!!!!!!
SLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW is all I can say. From 4am to 3pm (thats 11 hours)
The Redondo fish counter at 3:30pm say 15pinks 3kings and 6silvers
He also was giving out very nice laminated color salmon fish identification charts.
I am a little (lot) frustrated but I will be back again next sunday. Count on it!
