Tough fishing conditions today at the Hollow. Very windy and 4 to 5 foot swells from about 7am till we left the area at 10:00 am. We had our lines in the water at 6:00 am and our first action came at about 7:45 am when both of our polls went off. My buddy lost his fish then grabbed the net to net my fish. I got my fish to the boat (very nice pink, maybe 6 or 7 pounds) and it jumped once and swam away with my pink Coho killer and flasher in tow. My line had snapped and I was not a happy camper. I make it a practice to check my line before I start fishing but this morning I did not and it cost me 15.00 worth of gear and a nice fish. We saw no other boats net a fish while we were out there and at about 8:30 my buddy played and lost his second fish after literally falling on his butt because it was so rough out there. So, 0 for 3 by 9:00 am when I hooked and released a shaker black mouth that was about 17 inches followed by a 14 inch pink which I also released. Very poor fishing this morning for us and what appeared to be most of the others out there. We spoke with one of the two gals at the launch. She had counted only 7 pinks. I spoke with a guy at the launch that told me he had caught limits the last two days out but believed the 6 commercial netters that were out there Wednesday afternoon and again this morning likely impacted the numbers. It is my hope that the commercial netters will hit the road so next week will be more productive.
