Got a late start getting on the water at 9am and only fished for about 4 hours. Trolled in front of Shilshole with a flasher and Hoochi with 6oz. of lead (no downrigger) quiet a ways behind the boat. Had one real good takedown, but the fish ran at the boat and using barbless made it real easy for the fish to split the hook, never even saw it. Didn't get another bite until what I had decided would be my last pass before heading to work, got an great hit, when line started peeling off my reel faster than I had ever seen before! A couple HUGE splashes behind the boat, and the line went slack... Seems I caught a porpoise, or it stole the fish I had hooked into. My swivel had broken, meaning I lost my favorite flasher...
Other than that it was a great day, awesome weather, water was wonderful and the fog had begun to burn off just as I got to the ramp. Fish and Game guy at the ramp said they had brought in some good fish earlier in the morning, and some friends caught a 13lb.er
Going back out friday, hopefully no Porpoises this time!
