My father-in-law and I flyfished for searun cutts Saturday evening where Hammersley Inlet meets Oakland Bay outside Shelton. The tide was ebbing, creating a nice current near shore. We threw poppers - his white, mine yellow. The old man hooked up five times and landed three, including a beautifully speckled 12-incher. I hooked up twice but lost both near shore. We had several other strikes. A quick, erratic retrieve worked best, and the fish were in fast-moving water.
