I took a buddy of mine from work out for a little winter black mouth fishing in area 8-2. Lines were in the water at 7:30 am and this fish (pictured) took my Cop Car Coho Killer at 7:40 am. This fish fought great taking lots of line as he dove to the bottom like a torpedo. After a short battle the hatchery king was in the net weighing in at 12.5 pounds and 29 inches long. The next fish was a shaker black mouth around 19 inches which was released unharmed followed by a wild black mouth that we estimated to be at just legal length, also released unharmed. We were back at the Camano Island State Park launch by 10:30. Very fun couple of hours during which time we had a few rain drops, a fair amount of wind which kicked up about 8:30 am, and some sunshine which was nice. All in all a good trip. Before writing this report I enjoyed a nice fillet grilled on the BBQ. Fantastic flavor!
