Another good day on the water, drift-jigging Kandlefish metal jigs at Frehwater Bay, west of Port Angeles. My partner, and I, were targeting king salmon but the biggest suprise of day was a halibut hooked on a 2 oz glow-in-the-dark Kandlefish in 101 ft of water (see photo). The second surprise was a very large lingcod that cut the line after a grueling fight...there went that 2 oz Kandlefish. Our salmon that day ran between 17-22 lbs, not big but great fighters on the jigs (photo of one). Trollers and moochers had difficulty locating the fish. Jigging, with the right jigs, consistently works for us, especially if we pay close attention to our electronic fish locator.
