We been going to Westport just by looking at weather conditions. After have two bad trips back to back, we decided there must be another condition that can help increase chance of cathcing more fish. Decided that moon has to do something with fish biting and headed down to Westport. Weather report claimed 10% of rain and wind between 13 to 8mph. It rained 60% of the time we were out there and the wind was around 14-18mph. Morever, we thought fishing would be very bad like how normally is with a strong wind. However, we were catching fish, mostly small ones that we had to throw back but every once in a while we were catching fish that were around 1.5lb. Me and my friend fished pretty much all night minus few rest here and there until 5:30am. I used 1/16th of a ounce lead bullet weight followed by around 4 foot lead and a small fish. I out fished my friend who was fishing next to me but majority of the catch were small. We kept about 18 fish total. We tried bigger grub and bait with float but no ling through out the night. Next day we headed out to Big Jetty at 7:30am, low tide was between 7 and 7:30. very light rain here and there. Wind was blowing from North and then later changed to North West. Very unconfortable fishing condition. We tried bait with bobber, numerous color gurbs but nothing. We ended up leaving the big jetty after using sandshrimp with no luck. We ended up back at the Small jetty after a break. No luck here either, and ended our fishing at 2pm. Over all, it was not too good, we should have fished all night and went home next day.
