Decided to give the early morning bite a try on the Sound today. The tide wasn’t the best but heck I can’t choose my days off! Launched at Shilshole while it was still dark and fished the green buoy with no luck until is was light enough to make a safe run to Jeff Head. Started on the south side and worked my way to the north side with the tide. Not much bait around and the chinook were scarce as well. It looks like the pinks are starting to show as I marked a good deal of fish between 20’ and 40’. I didn’t target them as I had to be off the water by 9:30 and focused on trying to boat a king. I found some fish on the north side in deeper water and picked up a fish just a fraction shy of keeper size. Had one other on that made the reel sing for a bit and then was gone. Both takes were on a Brad’s cutplug fished down around 145’ and between the rips.

Gman,
Those fish you marked are all coho, mostly resident fish in the 2-5 lb range. Fishing for them has been real easy the past few weeks, white or glow mini squid down 20-40 feet behind a dodger or green flasher has been working for us. Theyre out pretty thick off the bar on the south and east ends.
