Myself and three freinds fished off Ilwaco on Friday 8/5/11 After crossing the bar and heading NW for around 20 miles (roughly), we dropped the gear. Varying colors of divers followed with an anchovie around 40" back. Before our second angler even had his gear in the water, we hooked up with our first fish. Undersized chinook, had to be released. The morning progressed with many bites and hook ups. I would say we had around 40 bites with 30-35 fish to the boat. Most of the fish were undersized chinook with two notable exceptions. We had to release three native coho, two of which were well into double digits with pronounced hook noses. The action was fast and furious at times with our limits in the cooler by 10:30am. Totals for the four of us: 3 chinook and 5 coho. The only reason I didn't give the day a 5 star rating was due to the size of the chinook. Nothing of size all day (our largest fish was around 14lbs) but lots of them. Great day and lots of fun.
