My friend and I went back out today on the boat around the same time. We tried starting over on the northside of Bainbridge for coho to see if maybe we could get a bite. We fished from about 8:30 to 9:30 without a bite there so we moved over to Jeff's Head We were trying different baits and I told my friend to put a coho killer on and he put his stuff down to 100 feet where fish were showing up on the fishfinder. He immediately got a little fish on and brought in a tiny little chinook. He ended up catching 2 more small kings and releasing them. Then he finally got a big one on. He set the hook and it was peeling line off while I was trying to get the downriggers and my line up. Once I got them in the fish came up and he said he saw it jump out the water, I tried looking and when I looked up I swear I saw a seal where he was trying to point to me where the fish jumped, and once I saw that his line went slack, I'm thinking his fish got stolen but he thinks it just came unbuckled because he never saw the seal I swear I saw roll on the top. After that he got another decent sized fish on and after a minute of fighting it, it came off, he was pissed LOL. After all this I said screw it and put a coho killer on my pole to at least get into some fish, not really caring what I caught. I ended up catching a couple small fish while my friend ended up getting no more bites. Then I got a decent hit and brought it up, it was a pink so it went in the boat. The next fish I got was a hatchery king that was probably 22-24 inches, too bad it's closed so off it went back in the water. Nothing else for us after that, the bite died when the tide change was over and headed back in. It's kind of crazy how many porpoises are out there nowadays, I never used to see them back in the day with the numbers that are out in that area now. It's cool to see though.
