Went to Whidbey idsland with some cousins and fished all day wednesday. We got there Tuesday night and were ready to hit the water. I was up and ready by 4 30 but as some of you may kniow the fg hit and we couldnt leave to fish till 10. We trolled with odgers and herring, saw a bunch of fish on the depth finder and were hoping they were coho. Missed a few buites when we first got out, the the herring bait balls were coming by in huge numbers. Then first hit after all of the waiting time i nail it, takjes me 8 minutes to get him in and it way my first Dog Shark. He was 3 feet long. The got another hit so i set the hook and gave it to my cousin she reeled it in and it looked and sure fought like a coho, it was jumpin and everything and right when it got close to the boat bam the hooks broke right off of the pre maid leaders. My cousin hooked into 3 fish and finaly landed her first Dog Shark, but at that oint we were just mooching. I brought in two Dog Shark my cousin 1 and her husban 1, they put up a heck of a fight, especilly when you have them near the boat then they run and go straight to the bottom, Godd luck and tight lines, and I cant waitfor the salmon to get a little hotter when the cohos and kings are really biting.
