It was the first time for us this year trying out salmon fishing. My dad, me, my friend, and his girlfriend went out on the boat this morning. We got out and started fishing around 6:30 AM with a lot of rain and thunderstorming going on around us on the water at Jeff's head. There were a couple other boats that joined us in all the fun in that weather this morning. My dad and I had the downriggers deeper where we were marking bait inn the area while we had my friend and his girlfriend using divers, possibly to get some coho. My friend and girlfriend didnt get anything using the divers and after we got 3 of the poles tangled after one of the diver poles got us all into each other we just gave up on trying to fish those poles since the miserable weather. First fish of the day was the fish in the picture that got taken by a seal. It had gotten taken off the rigger and I had felt some weight but then nothing, it came up and I only had half of a shaker left on the hook. I then got another bite but lost it quickly after I had it on, it peeled some line at first then off it went. Next my dad got his first bite and we brought it in, it would've been big enough to be a keeper but it had an extra fin so back it went. My dad was thinking of going back in because the wind picked up and was making the fishing even worse on the boat, but I told him to turn around since we were getting bites and go back to the area we were fishing. Once he did this, I got a nice takedown. Got the pole out the water and set the hook, it felt like straight up dead weight because it wasn't budging at all. Finally after about 3 minutes of it feeling like dead weight not being able to move it at all, I was able to start bringing in the fish, feeling some head shakes finally from the fish. My dad netted the fish, hatchery king, that was about 32 1/2 inches long. After that we started trolling back and then left with no other bites. We might go out tomorrow morning if were feeling up to it and see if we can get some more. I gave it three stars just because of the horrible weather, We were soaked right off the bat and stayed that way the whole time.

Nice... I wonder if we have enough sea lions yet? Some fish still get by them.
Seriously, way to stick with it!

Yeah that was the first time that's actually happened to me with the seal thing. I've always been like how does this happen to everyone all the time. haha.

Great picture! You can be thankful that seal missed your hooks!
