I was planning on hitting my neighborhood lake on Opening Day, but had to skip it. So I got out late morning in bright sunshine to find that the fish were all schooled up down by the dock and in the little bay right near the launch.

I found the fish were hitting black and brown leeches, buggers and the like. They snubbed their noses at a green bugger that I fished for a little while. I didn't try all that hard for any records or a limit, I was C&R on all the fish. I caught 3 casually trolling and casting, and had literally dozens of hits, many of which I cannot imagine how they escaped.

It seems sad to me that this lake is managed for put and take trout fishing, I would like to see WDFW plant it earlier so that some percentage can live as holdovers after the slaughter.
