Sorry report is late (computer problems!) Took early ferry from Mukilteo and headed for Whidbey Island, Camp Casey. Arrived at about 7:15 and was fishing by 7:30AM. Tide was just heading out... about 12 to 15 fishermen on beach 50 yards south of me, and a small boat anchored 30' offshore just to my left. I was using a 2 1/2oz chartreuse Rotator (Wannabe), casting straight out. From time I started until 8:30, had three big Silvers follow my lure to the beach, but no hookups. About 8:00, a young fellow in the small boat anchored in front of me landed a really nice Silver (fishing with his dad). About 8:30, the dad landed one as well. Was able to talk with the two, as they were mere feet from me, and the son told me that the fish were following their Buzz Bombs and hitting them just as they were lifting them out of the water. About 11:00, as the tide changed, we experienced some really gnarly waves and huge swells... and the young fellow caugth another big Silver. I had no hits, but did land a large Quillback Rockfish about noon. Saw a total of four salmon caught from the beach, two of them under floats with herring. Reports have been that fishing from the beach has been hot... well, the sun has been hot... the fishing, during the trwo trips I have made, has not been.
