Pretty good day of fishing. I launched early from Shilshole ready to pound some fish - in the water by 5:45. I didn't expect the launch to be busy but the fish keeps bringing everyone out and I was playing hookie due to the great fish numbers. I started off cold. I had a few early hook ups but 4 spit hooks before I finally landed one just after 8am. Everyone I saw seemed to be hooking up so until I got the first one in the boat it was a bit frustrating. There was a slight wind but still a great day for fishing.

Once the sun got a bit higher, I dropped my downrigger balls to 85 feet and 100 feet out respectively. I was marking fish stacked up and after I got through the ridiculous amount of grass and weed found the fish. I lost two at the boat (one on each set up) and had 4-5 pop the poles but the second fish was worth it. It was a mere 7.1 lbs but was a great fight. It ripped some line, jumped 4 times and even had a battle scar from a previous encounter. Pretty cool. Back to the boat launch by 10:15 and for the second fishing trip in a row, had a chipped fish!

Enjoy it while the getting is good.
