Put the boat in at Kingston, and headed out at 08:15AM. Got just outside the breakwater, and let out 140 feet of line, with 5 ounce sinker, and a cut plug herring. Trolled for about 5 minutes, had a hit so hard, it took out line, like crazy, and then when I picked it up and st the hook, the line went limp. Reeled in, and found the bottom line for the bottom hook bit off. Fishing partner caught about a 1 ft long silver, and released it. There was herring balls every where.

I wish I could leave you with the impression it was the monster salmon... but like RPM10 says,,, If you have spent any time up close with a dogfish,, they have some dang sharp teeth. I take my kid out dogfish'. I have used 40-50lb braided line... and STILL been broke off by doggies.

Oh I know, that it was most likely a dogfish, but it was that big strike, within minutes of letting line out. Really felt good, cause I haven't been out in a while.
