Did not get a early start. Was sore from thrashing about on Sunday at one or the WDFW Pheasant release sites. Pretty sore from that.

Anyway, left the house at after 7am. At the launch by 7:30ish. Started fishing at almost 8:00. Must have been dragging cause time was flying by. Seen quite a few nets fly. Was constantly questioning my depth fished, gear used, leader length, troll speed. Lot's of bait on the surface, and on the Fish finder. Saw several fish on the finder too. Which deserves special note. Since, I do not often see fish on the finder in deeper water, only shallow. Shallow being 200 ft or less.

At 8:30 the line pops from the downrigger. Pretty hard hit. Tip of the pole comes up slowly, and nothing but the weight of the flasher is telegraphed through the fishing rod. Bummer, not going to get many hits today, I was thinking to myself.

I see more nest fly. Damn, what are they doing I am not? I try a glow hoochie with skirt inside. A non glow hoochie, without skirt. Shorten leader from 28" to 22". Lengthen to 36", then shorten again. By 2 inches at a time.

While fishing a no glow hooche, no hits. While adjusting leader length on a glow hoockie. Had two more hard releases off the Dr clip. Never felt a head shake. That's 3 fish.........gone! Having a late start, that's more hits than I anticipated having today.

At around 9:20, the boat to my right nest a fish. at 9:22, boat in front nets a fish. At 9:30, my line pops from the clip for the fourth time today. This time the fish was hooked good. A 5lb fish. No real fight, some head shaking but pretty much walked the dog to the net, like the majority of the 6lb and under fish do. Was hoping to stick a bigger fish today. Would be nice to feel a fish that could take some drag, with authority. Only shakers after that.

Big fish checked in at the ramp today, was 9lbs. Fish checker had checked 28 boats with 37 fish.

The last time I was out was a week ago. During that trip, only a non glow spatter back hoochie got hit. Wiffee reeled in 3 fish for two people, with the fourth fish of the day coming unhooked. Long distance release.

Worked out around Meadow point, then out to the shipping lanes, turned left toward West point, left before the light house at West point. Then East toward the Southern break wall at Shilshole.
