Well, Stuffy got the worst fish skunk in years.
Started at 4:45 Defiance launch with my Nephew.
Pulled away and rubbed downrigger arm against dock and cracked the base. I needs to get the fiberglass on this.
Went to the Scout camp on west Vashon. Used Wannafish F24 and Shamrock one with 8 inch one 11 inch e-chip in green. It wasn't fun using my downrigger from my lap over the edge of gunnel.
Didn't mark any quantities of fish, but saw lots of small herring or other small bait fish. Nephew picked up 18 inch shake about 6am. Trolled off camp area and about 7am was trying to pop my gear from the downrigger and snapped my pole in half.
Nice going Stuffy!
We fished a lot of set ups; flashers and hootchies, coho killers, coyotes, some rubber herring looking thing, marshmellows (not really), but lots of stuff at all depths - Squat.
Took Nephew back to launch and I hadn't had enough, so went back out. Was about 8:30. Started Owens beach to the Pt. Nothing, worked around Pt to Salmon beach. Tide was really running. Cool. Rain spats. Choppy water. Not many boats, but they were bunched up close enough looked like on giant rats nest to me.
Ran acroos to south vashon. Nothing, not even one nibble, but it only took me until 12:30 to figure out I shoulda never gotten outta bed. Folks must have caught the last fish on Thursday.
The day tested my faith. Happy fishing.
