I put in early down at Thea's Park and to check my crab pot and re-bait it. I ended up with two keeper Dungeness with my first pull. The pot was totally full with males that were oh so close and a couple of females. No red rock crab down in this area. I then threw the yak in my truck and went down to the clay banks to jig for salmon with my arsenal of Darts. Put in right at Owen Beach and started jigging. Lots of boats and in hearing people talk, it sounded like a lot of fish were marked but not many caught...Who knows?! I jigged two different Dart patterns, both on the small side since bait has been pretty small. I had one solid hit but was fumbling around with some crap in my kayak and failed to set the hook. One thing I learned is that I will fish at slack tide next time out. I paddled my butt off since my first float took me half way to Gig Harbor...Then back over to Owen Beach for another pass. By the end, I think I ended up paddling more than fishing. I took out after about two hours and headed back down to check the pot...two more Dungeness keepers making four for the day.

I bet the rip around the point there is pretty hard to navigate with a kayak. when I turn around there in my boat my gps tells me my speed literally cuts by more than half even tough I don't change throttle and quite often I find i'm actually trolling backwards even though I'm in gear! lol

The current there is insane. I probably fished about 1/3 of the time - the rest was trying to get back to my starting point to drift. I made two drifts and then went back because my arms were rubber bands. I need to hit it right at day break when the bite is on.
