Went out with a charter (Fish Finders - www.fishingseattle.com) on Sunday. Had my grandpa in town and wanted to take him salmon fishing, despite it being too early to keep any chinooks. Captain Carl Nyman did an outstanding job putting us on the fish and I do believe that we caught more salmon than most other boats out that day. We trolled chartreuse hoochies most of the time on downriggers, although we did catch a couple on flatline herring. We had brought in 2 nice kings by 6:30am. Of course, we couldn't keep those so just a quick photo and back in the water they went. After a little down time, we found the cohos. The bite wasn't super hot, but we had a steady 1 fish per 40 minutes going on all the way until 11am. Ended up keeping 6 decent size silvers before hauling in a truckload of flounder within 20 minutes. All in all, it was a great day and I would highly recommend this Carl as a guide if anyone is interested in going salmon fishing with an expert guide. He took excellent care of us and was reasonably priced.
