Man, what a day! Went on Excel Fishing Charters and had a blast. LONG day, almost 12 hours at sea, but well worth it. Fishing started out slow when we were about 15 miles of the coast, then headed another 10 out and started to pick up. Saw some humpbacks along the way putting on an air show!!
At the first spot about 15 miles out we caught a couple keeper Pinks...nothing monster though. We kept hooking into native Coho, which we could not keep! Some of them were real nice, guessing around 15 pounds!! Decided to split and head further out to a different hot spot. There we started hooking into kings at about 150 foot of cable on spoons and also a flasher and a spoon. It was tough keeping them on the line at times though.
In all we ended up with these statistics for 3 of us guys fishing:
5 Kings
2 Pinks
20 something released keeper size Nat Coho's
10ish Shaker Kings
over 60 "fish on's" got about 40 of them to the boat
Biggest King was a Hatch Hen about 15ish pounds
Anyway, look up Excel Fishing Charters and go out there with Captain Tom! He works his butt of to get you fish! Fishing was super slow all around us and we almost limited on Kings! He had been limitiing on his boat every day since April 12...one more and we would have kept the string going...oh well!
Tight lines and tired arms!!
