Got to the pumphouse at about 0515. Hooked up around 6am then made a rookie mistake and let a wild Silver go. Both guys on my left and right confirmed that I had to release it. I was unsure so I let it go unharmed before I had a dead fish on the beach that was illegal to retain. Went back to the truck and checked the regulation book to find out it was ok to keep. That fish got lucky HAHA! Oh well, better safe than sorry. About half an hour later I hooked an average sized Pink. Both fish had me up and down the shore line going under guys' rods and what not. Really had a blast out there but there was a lot of people fishing. I had been there for a few hours and guys would show up and stand 3 or 4 feet from you. Iif you fished there you know who I'm talking about. Talk about rude! There is miles of beach and they are about standing on your feet. Got in a few tangled lines and all the lovely impacts of combat fishing but overall it was good. Lots of fish caught. Both fish were caught on your standard humpy rig (2.5 pink BB and pink hoochie).

Nice! Sucks to let that silver go though. The only wild fish you can keep is chinooks. What's time limit for pinks? 4?

Wild Chinook and Chum must be released. Everything else is fair game. Yep, 4 pinks.

Good job. Could someone fill me in as to where this "pump house" area is. I'm new here and still finding my way around.

Yeah yesterday was a mad house out there. Congrats on the fish. Not many pinks were caught there but quite a few coho were. Bummer about releasing that one.

I should have known better and read the regs again before I fished. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow I'll have another shot at one. Hope it goes and makes lots of babies HAHA! Yeah Wolff, big time combat fishing. Two weeks ago there were maybe 15 guys fishing there when I got my first one. The word is out. EVERYONE is talking about the pumphouse. I never had an issue parking in past years. The other day there was not a parking spot to be had. Been thinking about trying MA6 here real soon. Waiting on word though.

BB is my lazy way of typing Buzz Bomb. You can buy these at any store that sells tackle. Wal-mart being one. I put on a bead, then a snap swivel (protects the last eyelet on your rod) to the main line. make a 2-3 ft leader attached to a 3/0 barbless hook. Slide on another bead to act as a bumper between the hook and the BB. Next is the buzz bomb (make sure the arrow on the lure is pointing to your hook) then tie your leader to the swivel. When it is all done it will go in the following order starting at your rod tip down: Bead, snap swivel, leader, buzz bomb, bead, hook. If you decide to use a hoochie or squid skirt put it on over the bead between the lure and the hook.
