We got to the launch at Redondo about 7am & the fish checker lady said we better get out there because 3 boats just came back with a couple limits each! We hustled up & headed to Browns Point and spent the day making our way back to Redondo. We didn't see any fish hooked from boat or shore aside from the 2 flounders I managed to hook (not sure how I did it & likely couldn't do it if I was actually fishing for them). We tried anchoring up, drifting, jigs, buzz bombs, spinners & spoons... No luck. The fish checker guy on the way out said he was surprised at the low number that had been boated today

May try it again earlier tomorrow morning. This is our first year fishing for them, is this still early or are we idiots?

no it is early and they are coming thru in schools of 50 or 100 at a time so if you are there when they move thru, you get them. It will be here and then will be pink madness until the second week in September; plus you can start chasing them on the lower Green starting next Friday.

Thanks Barry! Talking to a few others, it sounds like we were about an hour late for the flock that came through this morning. Pretty sure I have the big guy talked into trying it again early tomorrow morning.

I can't wait for the Green to open! Our favorite spot is only about 10 minutes from the house =o)

Hey there! That's where we prefer to fish because it's so close to the house & easy to get to when we only have a few hours. We really like that spot under hwy 18 as well (there are usually nice guys giving fish away there :) We went looking for spots on the Puyallup last year & just didn't have much luck at all.

There a spot for a small boat on the lower or is it bank only?

Unless you like burnt up half cooked fish SPAWNED out salmon I would make the time and effort to fish the lower part of the rivers drive down to the lower puke and youll see all the places to catch chrome ! I would never steer another fisher men/woman wrong : P
