This is a late report for the whole weekend. Took Friday off work to go fishing and the fog was thick in the morning. Could only see 20ft from the boat which was pretty scary. I didn't have a GPS except for the on one on my phone which didn't work too well for the water. Felt like I was going in circles and got kind of lost. Finally got to the fishing spot after a whole hr and got all the gear ready and fished for only 30mins then one of the reel got jammed. After that my steering cable snaps. Decided to call it quits and head back. Had to use my kicker to get all the way back to the launch. It was a long ride back in the fog. My worse experience so far.

After replacing my steering cable I had to go back n try again since I found out after Sunday it's closed for kings. Went back sat and caught only 4 pinks. I gave it a 5 because Sunday we did great. Lots of action the whole time. Lost a lot too. Got my last king for the area before it closed. It was a hen weighing 12lbs and put up a great fight! Total we got 1 king, 2 coho, and 8 pinks for the 3 of us. Got back to the launch and the fish counter had to cut one of the cohos head cause it had a chip in it "see in pic" Now I'm waiting for the bigger cohos to show up. Good luck n be safe out there!

Nice report and thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about your trouble in the fog and the steering cable. Glad some fish paid it off for you. What are and depth were you fishing?

Thanks. I was fishing at Lincoln park. I was fishing between 45-65ft the whole time. The king and cohos was caught on green kingfisher spoons and the pinks was on small pink hoochies.

Good job out there, your chinook looks similar to a native we released on Sunday, both showing a bit of color already. For those of you who though that the requirement for having a paddle on board your powerboat was silly... there is a trick to using your main outboard motor if the steering cable goes out. It involves lashing the paddle side of your oar(s) to the side(s) of the motor housing with rope and using the oar handle as a tiller. It's easier if someone else is on board to operate the throttle while you steer or vice versa.

Nice going, sorry about previous day, but I would trade that in for what later transpired,..OK, maybe not,...great catch!!

get a good gps/chart plotter on your boat and you will love it. its my favorite toy on my boat. I follow my breadcrumb trails back to my crab pots and can drive directly to shelf/contour/depth changes in areas I've never even been to. can be a lifesaver on those foggy days.

Thanks guys. G-man I don't have any paddles but that would be a good idea. Hopefully I won't get in that situation again. The fish was kind of dark but the meat was still good.
N E 1 FISSION That one day made up for it but it cost me a little for it.
Dustin07- yes I definately need to invest in a GPS. Ill get one soon. Getting lost in the fog is not fun.

Nice work and way to go to stick to it and be persistent! I have had my motor issues lately as well but hasn't kept me from going after them! Glad it paid off for you on Sunday!

Romanfishing, im guessing the fish checker guys scanned it and it had the chip in it or whatever they look for so they took the head.

romanfishing the fish checker scanned the fish and it had a chip in it so he had to cut that part off.
